Mission Complete!

I started a project about a year ago - to try to recover every BeOS file possible and centralize them all on a single server. 10gb of data, and 2400+ files later, it's done. BeBits was a help for this, and each and every single file there was audited.

As you may know, there's a lot of dead links over there. Each missing file/dead link was checked against archive.org, Google, BeShare, comments at BeBits, and FTP mirrors. Every file that was 'on' BeBits is/should be here now, and lots of files that weren't there are here now (recovered). It was an overwhelming task, and quite frankly, I'm glad it's over! Well, almost...

A couple days ago, I posted a note on the OpenBeOS list, and here, asking for people to send in their files. I have an updated and final list of missing software. It's available right here in these formats:

  • *.txt - Alphabetical Text (no software required - Thanks Meanwhile!)
  • *.ods - Open Document Spreadsheet
  • *.xls - Microsoft Office Spreadsheet
  • *.pdf - Adobe Acrobat Reader

I'll give it until Thursday, Oct. 23rd for people to send in any of the missing files they can find. I'll update the listings, but after that, please do it yourself!

Tongue out

The best way would be to drop the files off at:

ftp.haikuware.com

Thanks!

P.S - Thanks Dennis (aka thenerd) for your help.

I did help a bit but nothing compared to what Karl did.

You know you are great, in all those years the first man to solve link city aka bebits. Bebits always was a nice site with a very friendly 'GUI' but its biggest problem was that it did host the files.

Well done. Hat off. Thank you very very much.

Thanks nutela. I still think BeBits design (besides the linking deal) and speed is superior, but this website will change soon.

the speed might be better but I actually prefer the Haikuware design.

What I'd copy from BeBits is the way a dev. gets guided through the process of posting his app on BeBits...because that's just excellent.
