In any case, we need some new bounty ideas, so leave some comments please (up to $750 are available)! I'll probably start a poll next week to see what would be a good bounty. For me, the only thing that comes to mind really is Wifi support, but that's probably a huge undertaking.

- BOINC (Berkeley Open Infrastructure For Network Computing) this is my #1 choice because it would open the doors to allow the individual applications that run in BOINC to be ported (and because TeamHaiku ROCKS!)
- FileZilla
- OpenOffice.org or Lotus Symphony
- Pidgin IM
- Notepad
- Some sort of SIP compliant VoIP software
- Jabber/XMPP client and/or server
These are just some suggestions. I haven't checked whether or not there are active projects or current versions of any of these.
Cheers!

#1444 SATA testing on real hardware - fails to boot
#1689 acquire_sem doesn't timeout
#1739 Include a build system script to generate a proper 'develop' directory on Haiku
#2197 KDL when starting Firefox
#2912 [Alpha 1]: Tracker for the proposals
#3150 BFS directory corruption.
#3151 KDL when copying data between 2 BFS partitions.
Additionally support for the Huawei Mobile Connect Express (Model: E800) would be acceptable.
The bounty may be around $750. I'd rather keep it all in one bounty to make sure it's attractive enough to take on.

It doesn't run on Haiku. I tried downloading libyahoo2:
libyahoo2.sourceforge.net/
And dropped and replaced the older libyahoo2 sources included in the Yahoo sources. I then tried compiling, but it didn't work. It did compile 30/72 objects, and I'm sure someone who knew what they were doing could make a go of it...
Those sources should probably be posted to OSDrawer for better exposure.

I know Ithamar has been receptive to the idea of bounties before...
Nvidia opensource drivers port can be a big hit
...ndiswrapper...gnash, swfdec,... Oppenoffice really needed nobody really consider haiku to evereday use if no have office suite,....wine.
Java.
1 - IMKit: full support for msn (or|and) gmail
that would be a very good start.
2 - Java
3 - Webkit (I see no browser around)
4 - Flash.
5 - Bluetooth: second part (two layers are missing)
UVC will require isochr. transfer support in the USB stack, which is currently only supported on UHCI (one of three controller types). For example, my EeePC has the UVC cam on EHCI, which doesn't support iso xfers.
Implementing iso xfers in EHCI and/or OHCI would be a good bounty too though
Hopefully the cash incentive will encourage any of the devs to iron out the kinks in several of the show stoppers, such as the ticket#3150, the IOScheduler, the ATA bus manager, making Python functional at least to the BeOS client, restoring existing LiveCD functionality, extending LiveCD functionality to a true LiveCD with some sort of configuration and file saving option, and so on.
All of these can be individual bounties. Since these tasks are well defined continuations of Haiku's existing codebase, there will be no porting issues, no dependency issues, or feelings of being overwhelmed by the sheer vastness of the task at hand.
Due to the nature of these tasks, the bounty can be significantly lower than Haikuware's past bounties: roughly $1100, $800, $1800. Having said that, I personally don't know what the exact amount of each bounty should be.
In closing, this provides a direct avenue for the community to directly finance and encourage the final push for R1/Alpha. More importantly, this will encourage any developer to focus on Haiku, as opposed to diverting their energies to non-OS programs.
Ithamar: this question for you
My previous failure was mainly a lack of available time
Anyway, at this point, with the Alpha getting closer, I have to agree that putting the effort into the tickets open for the Alpha would have my personal preference. Getting it out there is really important, and I'd rather see the Alpha out soon
