Artur Wyszynski - Mini Interview

9_64

Artur Wyszynski recently won our 8th Thank You Award. We asked him a few questions (yes he got his Haiku shirt), and here they are:

1) How old are you and what do you do to pay the bills?

I'll be 26 (in April ;P) and I work as a software specialist in
BLStream, developing software for mobile devices (mostly S60/WindowsMobile based)

2) Your Thank You Award nomination said: 'for implementing gradients in the interface kit, easing the way to a modernized GUI" How difficult (or easy) was it to accomplish these tasks? Have you done other things these past two months that we missed and that you'd consider even more interesting or successful?

It was pretty easy, the hardest part of this was to get into appserver drawing code and see how it works, later it was just reading about the AGG gradients example code and implementing it on the appserver side :)

Yeah, In december I was working on lifting the GUI a little bit using gradients, you can see the results
here :)

3) What would you love to have that would make working on Haiku easier?

Nice IDE, HW OpenGL :)

4) Which interesting book, band, podcast, website, magazine, movie, TV show etc. would you like to recommend? You can pick more than one item. Tell us why you picked it in one or two sentences.

Terry Pratchett's Discworld series, I love it, and from TV, anything that has something in common with Stargate :)

That updated GUI looks great! I hope Haiku adopts it.

I forgot to mention about new preferences system which i was working on december, plugin based, so every system app (for example apache) could have its own plugin, it has simple api and mimics osx prefs :-)
here are screenshots hitomi.pl/haiku/gui/preferences.png and hitomi.pl/haiku/gui/preferences2.png
