I'm in shock. I had about given up hope on ever getting an official bootable CD. Now I have to find the time to migrate my ancient Zeta server to Haiku and see if everything works.
Tried the ISO image from 9-30-09 and it worked pretty good. Had to disable IDE DMA (space bar to invoke boot menu) to get the CD to boot which was odd because after installing it to a hard drive that wasn't necessary to get Haiku to boot. Terribly slow installing though which was either because IDE DMA was disabled or there is no proper read/write cache happening. Finally an easy way to test on real hardware.
0#Senyru issue on MacBookPro —
zenja2009-09-01 08:46
Karl, just for your info, Senryu has always had a USB related problem (keyboard/mouse) on my MacBookPro. However, the Haiku images that I compile myself do NOT have this problem (keyboard and mouse work fine). I haven't really investigated the cause, but is Senryu also running an additional add-on which is causing this conflict? You may want to disable it ...

Sorry, forgot to mention what the problem was. It doesn't accept any input Even the caps lock key doesn't light up when pressed. Again, this problem doesn't exist with default Haiku setup, it is strictly a Senryu issue.
I'd be interested to know how you setup Haiku. I can't get the keyboard or mouse to work on my MacBook Pro, even with the default images at haiku-files. Last I heard it was a 'USB Polling' issue... I don't believe Senryu has any add-ons in this respect. I do add the Vmware add-ons, but they are disabled by default. In any case, not sure I'll be continuing Senryu now that ISO disk images are available for Haiku.
0#MacBook mouse and keyboard? —
kwag2009-09-01 12:08
Hello,
I would LOVE to be able to try an ISO that will recognize my trackpad and keyboard on my (Black) MacBook. Is there any ISO image link I could download and try? I did try today's Haiku ISO build (Early morning), and although it booted, I didn't have any trackpad. I had to use an external USB mouse, and that did work fine.
Isn't there still a valid reason to continue Senryu? The Haiku ISO images will be great but another ISO option with more pre-installed software would appeal to a lot of people. Does the Haiku ISO even come with full development tools? I didn't check.
Karl, vanilla Haiku works on my Oct 1996 generation MacBookPro (first C2D generation, with ATI X1600). I dont know about the Santa Rosa generation MBP.
@Zaranthos - of course there are valid reasons to continue Senryu The Official Haiku releases will only be coming with a specific set of software. Senryu comes with a complete set of software that can be used right out of the box and saves time installing it for those who just want to play around without spending too much time. Senryu can also provide tools and features that may be developed outside of the Haiku project, that the Haiku folks don't want to include in their official distributions.
In my above post, I mistakenly wrote 1996 instead of 2006. (insert funny comment about time irrelevance here)
0#33104 works fine on MacBookPro —

Hi Karl. Just letting you know that with 33104, I've got mouse and keyboard working with no major glitches on a MacBookPro (Oct 2006 generation). My nForce590 desktop PC, however, now has mouse issues (both USB and PS/2), which was fine 3 months ago ...
@zenja, what is the model identifier of your MBP? Mine is 'MacBook 2,1'. The official alpha release doesn't boot completely on mine. It gets stuck at the red rocket. Same problem as the bug I reported years ago; the keypad and mouse don't work, so I can't even boot into safe mode (external mice and keyboards also don't work).
I've also tried the release on my MacPro desktop and it also will not boot, also it has the same keyboard error. Thom from OSnews had the same problem with the keyboard. I had reported a month or so ago that this system worked, so I'm a little disappointed to find that it doesn't now!...
Hi Karl. From System Profiler: Model Identifier: MacBookPro2,2 Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor Speed: 2.33 Ghz Boot ROM Version: MBP22.00A5.B07 SMC Version (system): 1.12f5
The OS is SnowLeopard 10.6.1
Purchased in Oct 2006.
Haiku boots and is usable (on partition created with BootCamp), with the following issues: - VESA resolution is limited to 1152x852 (blame the BIOS) - Sound mixer is not initialised proprely - Apple specific niceties (two finger right click / scroll, and the laptop special keys (brightness, volume etc) dont work. - No Wireless (Broadcom chipset)
Every 2-3 months Haiku works better and better on the laptop (as drivers for similar hardware is developed). Eventually it will be 100% supported.
If I install OpenSoundSystem (OSS) on my MacBook Pro, then I seem to experience the problem Karl is reporting (no keyboard/mouse control). There seems to be some sort of conflict with OSS and the HDA driver. When I remove OSS, the MBP has working keyboard and mouse.
@Zenja. Ya that's odd. Other people are experiencing the problem of no built-in mouse/keyboard as well. Seems it's the 2,1 model with the problem, and the 2,2 is fine as confirmed here:

Karl? another Karl here?
Cheers!
Remember BeOs/haiku should be easy to use.
LOL. It's a disc image that's meant to be burnt to CD. There's several programs you can use to burn it; i.e for Windows:

Or IMGburn:

Thanks for that info, I have the same model and am now going to try the official release and see what happens; will report back.

As you know though, OSS is an optional package, and I don't believe is shipped with the alpha.
