Meanwhile got his Epson Perfection 610 to scan an image of the BeOS Bible under Haiku (see below)!...
The drivers in the package are from around Sept. 2001, so you'll probably need a fairly old USB scanner, although, I doubt scanner technology has changed much in the last decade (except for higher resolution, but I rarely found anything above 300DPI to be necessary, and too time consuming to scan), so Ebay might be an attractive avenue for your Haiku scanning needs...
*Update, there's a list of supported devices in the file listing's HCL now, with devices likely to work in our hardware database. If you find a working scanner under Haiku with this software, please add it to our hardware database!
"Sometimes it pays off to hold on to old hardware! My Epson Perfection 610 didn't fully work with ScanIt on Haiku. It was bought 2nd hand a few years ago because it was supposed to work with ScanIt on BeOS (and it did). Then (on Haiku) BeSANE was installed, using the 'alpha7dev' version, and after that Sanity v0.5a. What you see is the first color scan using these softwares (in default settings)."
