Developer cipri, a mathematical physics student in Germany, has already recently ported mupdf, and designed a basic PDF Viewer based on this. His ambitions now are to write a BePDF replacement for Haiku! Cipri plans to release a new version every week, and hopefully have a somewhat complete version by the end of October. A blog entry by cipri outlines his plans.
I've been asked to start a bounty in this regard, and have gladly done so! I hope others will also contribute to it and support a student (who has already produced results) and native Haiku application development :) Cipri notes, that regardless of donations he plans to start immediately, however the continued development of the project will be weighed against support for it, and bounty donations.
