Haiku Compatibility: 2 1 |
|
Manufacturer: Acer Haiku Release: Alpha 2
Description: Haiku R1/Alpha2 installs easily from a USB stick. Don't even try it from an external CD-ROM drive - for some reason it doesn't work. The AAO boots up in about 12 seconds and gives 2 hours on a full battery charge. Neither of the two SD Card readers will work, but USB sticks are picked up without any trouble. EDIT: With OSS installed audio does work, although restarting Media Server will make it look as if it didn't. Reboot and you're golden. With audio working, it was time to test the media capabilities. A 1TB USB HD was mounted effortlessly and both MediaPlay and VLC proceeded to play a 2 GB MP4 movie from it. The 8GB SSD that serves as a boot drive may seem small, but Haiku apps are quite tiny, really. Power management is restricted to a Deskbar replicant on which a tooltip tells you how long you have to go. Submitted by: clasqm |

"Neither of the two SD Card readers will work"
Are SD cards are mounted as ReadOnly , or just are not detected? I have a problem with internal SD card reader [on MSI Wind netbook]. SD Cards are detected as ReadOnly, but SD card are unprotected... strange
