Packager Download

Thumbnails:

Description:

Package manager for Haiku.

Allows downloading, installing and removing software. It makes software installation a breeze and is the first GUI package manager for Haiku.

Allows specifying exact symlinks and alternate URLs ( for individual hosting of files ) in package dbz file.  As well as (automatic) smart guessing of symlinks.

Very functional, fast and helps make Haiku feel more complete.

Requires: libncurses ( already provided ) & OpenSSL to work.

OpenSSL should already be included with Haiku Alpha

Directory dependent ( unzip to /boot/ ).  Must be found under /boot/apps/packager to work.

Have fun & Enjoy!

Version 0.7.1 - many improvements - speed (little faster), less memory use, symlinking improved, category listing, searching by name & category, package update option, bug fixes, etc., etc.

To upgrade from 0.6.x, you will have to replace Packager, install.dbz & packages.dbz. Had to change install.dbz to display installed version.

I removed programs and system tools already found in Haiku Alpha. Package list went from 50 to 20 but will increase in 1 to 2 weeks when I have time to update it with more of the popular applications.

Hi, when I open Packager on Alpha 2, it doesn't list any packages.

Thanks for trying out the program.

I have not worked on Packager for long time now since streakx began putting together Synthetic.

I may update it later on (will see) but no promises. Constantly creating and updating packages takes time which I prefer not spending.

Use Synthetic for now. If I decide to update, you can try updated version of program then. Regards,

---Error: Program stopped due to an error
---Program done, press RETURN---

That's okay, I just thougth I'd see what else was on offer, but you're right, it sounds like one hell of a job updating everything.
