ESS Maestro-2 driver Download

Description:
This is BeOS legacy driver. It may or may not work under Haiku. It could render your system unstable
About ESS Maestro-2 driver:

ESS Maestro-2/2E/1 sound driver

Update 02/03/2000:

Please be aware that i won't be making more updates to this driver until R5 is released.
I'm quite aware of the problems people are having with various laptops, particularly having the controls and everything, but no sound coming out.
THere is precious little i can do without a laptop where it doesn't work.
It worked fine on my laptop, and quite a large number of others.
If someone with a laptop with a maestro2e that doesn't work would be willing to loan me their laptop for one week (I'll happily pay shipping both ways, and insurance. Using fedex, of course. No out of pocket expense for you, i have an account number), I can make the driver work.

Driver for ESS Maestro-2/2E/1 chips.
These are the chipsets in quite a few laptops, including Dell Inspiron 7000's, etc.
To disable the driver if that happens, push space while BeOS is loading, go to
safe mode options, and check off "disable user-addons".

Details about this version:

I fixed the package installer bug, which cause it to not work at all on most machines, because it would do the wrong thing.

Installing this version will fix the problem.

It didn't work at all on my Compaq Armada E500 with Haiku alpha 3. It does work under BeOS 5 MAX Edition, but only on initial driver installation. After reboot in BeOS, computer locks up or goes to kernel debugging. Only way I can think of that MIGHT work in BeOS is to have some sort of script that uninstalls or disables the driver on shutdown and reinstalls it on bootup.
