About ICH AC97 Driver:

This is a BeOS AC97 sound driver for certain Intel, NVIDIA and SiS chipsets! It does provide sound playback, but not recording.

Haiku has its own driver, so there's no need to download this for Haiku.

All VIA (any) and SiS 7018 (SiS 540, SiS 630, SiS 630E, SiS 630ET, SiS 630S, SiS 630ST, SiS 730, SiS 730S, SiS730SE) chipsets are not supported.

In the rare case that this driver doesn't work, please download the debug version and install it. It will create a file called ich_ac97.log in your home directory. Send me this file to the email address that is given in the readme file.

I can't get it to install... it asks me to select what program to run the file with/ does not recognize the file type... please help. This computer is driving me insane

You have no audio in Haiku?

This driver is already part of Haiku. To help you I require:
1) listdev from terminal *only* for the audio card (3 or 4 lines for each audio card installed). The rest is for your other hardware in the computer.
2) ls /dev/audio from terminal
