About amd-cpu:

A driver to allow setting features of the AMD K6-X line of cpus. Support for setting the variable range MTRRs of the AMD Athlon cpus is included.

The driver has been tested successfully on a K6-2, K6-3+, Duron and Athlon.

This driver was developed and tested on my K6-3+. Turning on Write Allocate (my bios doesn't support the K6-3+) and the MTRR has resulted in a 20-30% performance increase on graphics apps for me.

The expected performance boost for most machines should be 10-15% for graphics apps, not the 20-30% I get because most machines have write allocate already turned on by their bios.

I have had reports that BeOS 5 may infact be setting the MTRRs for the graphics frame buffer on Athlon and Duron machines. This driver will let you check if this is the case for your machine. If your MTRRs are set you can uninstall amd-cpu.
