Intel Extreme Graphics Driver
Download
- Description:
-
This is a BeOS legacy driver. It may or may not work under Haiku. It could render your Haiku system unstable
About Intel Extreme Graphics Driver:
A driver for the Intel Extreme graphics chipsets. Only i855/i865 is supported right now.
The supported chipset is also known as Intel Extreme 2, but it's planned to expand the list of supported chips in both directions, that is support for newer graphics chips and older ones is on the wish list.
Unfortunately, I only have a i865 chip with analog output, and that's exactly what this driver supports at this point. If you have similar hardware, and want it to be supported, I need your support (or hardware ;-) to achieve this.
Supported hardware:
- i855
- i865
Digital output is currently not supported (that includes laptop panels!), due to lack of hardware, sorry.
This driver is part of Haiku.
Details about this version:
Initial release.
Known Issues:
- digital output will not work - could not test it.
- B_PROPOSE_DISPLAY_MODE does not yet work correctly, and thus, you can set display modes the chipset is not able to produce - that also affects BWindowScreen's modes (which probably won't work for the most part). Don't try playing full screen games with this driver if you want to make sure your system stays online :-)

Comments
Haiku has a more recent one, and installing this will likely break things in unexpected and dagerous ways.
If you have problem with Haiku and an intel video card; please get in touch with the Haiku developpers to get the issues fixed.
@Karl: is it possible to update the description to make this more clear ? People are trying to install this on Haiku, so the current warning doesn't seem good enough...
Encouraging people to use older versions is really not helping us.
