OpenJazz is a free, open-source version of the classic Jazz Jackrabbit™ games. OpenJazz can be compiled on a wide range of operating systems, including Windows 98/Me/XP and Linux. To play, you will need the files from one of the original games.
With the demise of DOS-based operating systems, it has become necessary to use emulators to play old DOS games. Jazz Jackrabbit™ deserves more - and would benefit greatly from new features.
OpenJazz was started on the 23rd of August, 2005, by Alister Thomson. Academic pressures put the project on hold until late December 2005. The source code was released on the 25th, and the first version with a degree of playability was released on the 15th of January. Since then, a variety of ports have been released by other people.
More academic pressures meant there were few updates over the following few years, but in 2009 a multiplayer version was released.About Jazz Jackrabbit™ Jazz Jackrabbit™ is a PC platform game. Produced by Epic Games (then Epic MegaGames), it was first released in 1994. The fast-paced, colourful gameplay proved popular, and the game won PC Format's Arcade Game of the Year award. Many people still recall the shareware versions.
The shareware releases are available at Haze's Hideout. Please, read the attached readme file.

Very difficult to run this game...
You need sdllib to make it work, and you need the gamefiles.
You have to rename the gamefiles from upper to lowercase.
You need another lib to provided with this file...
No shareware or freeware sampledata provided with this file...
/boot/home/apps/OpenJazz_Haiku_GCC4/Binary/OpenJazz
runtime_loader: Cannot open file libSDL-1.2.so.0: No such file or directory
If you use a newer libSDL.so lib, you have to rename the lib to libSDL-1.2.so... not sure not tested by myself to much hassle...
Bruno Bratwurst: Sorry for the rename problems, maybe I missed to write that You need run it from terminal, in the correct directory. So sorry.
Yes, You need make an symlink to the libSDL.so (use the right click menu in the tracker, and rename the symlink to libSDL-1.2.so)
I sent an mail for the author, maybe he give me the rights to publish the OpenJazz package with the shareware files.
In the latest version the color problems (when You change the resolution) now gone, feel free to use it in HD resolution
