Haiku team have to fix theses BGLView issues...
Software renderer is only good for 512x384 or 640x480 with low details and low textures.
I tested on gcc2 system with default MESA. 640x480, fullscreen, low textures and was getting 7-10 fps.
To see frame rate, type ~, then /cg_drawfps 1
This will show frame rate while playing the game.
Till now I run quake3 only on my notebook, it have Intel GMA 950 and there fullscreen mode don't works. But I just tested It on my PC with GeForce 7300 and Core2Duo and here fullscreen mode works fine!
Why you think it's requires gcc 2.95? Yes, I little bit change sources.

I did not see 320x240 video mode. I thought the lowest setting was 512x384. I will have to take another look.
I tested gcc4 Quake3 and it works for me.
Edit: tested with optimized Renderer and that worked for me too.
I'll bet that Haiku will be glad to integrate any optimization making his default GL renderer better, even if only a bit.

I also tested with Quake3 for 10 minutes. With default Mesa, 640x480 fullscreen I get 7-10 fps. With compiler optimized I get 8-13 fps.
In general, compiler optimized Renderer appears to give 1 frame extra for every 5 frames you get compared to default compiled Mesa Renderer.
is it possible to get the data files from somewhere on the net or even a demo?i don't have the cd and i can't find it in shops here in algeria.

No it's not use SDL or any other 3rd party lib.
I thought that it was gone but I have a backup of it somewhere sins I was working on Quake 1, Don't know how far he came with Quake 2 though
All Quakes III that I download only came with one pk3 file. in /baseq3/pakc0.pk3
It's normal?
