Requrements for GreenTube to work:

GreenTube requires Python library.

You can download libs from here:

- AutoDetecting python. if python's not detected , greentube informs You, that will not work :)

btw. Video files are saved to boot/home/*.*

[You can set new directory in greentube config file]

ugh,forgot to say.. downloaded video files appears in boot/home directory as *.flv files.

and *.flv files can be played with VLC Player.

Later on, you might want to add some type of play option to open up VLC & play the flash video file.

It can be either: 1) download & play video file or 2) download video file & have user select which file to play.

Anyone downloading flash video is because they want to usually watch it right away. I prefer 1) above myself.

btw. If you're downloading a video in format MP4, you dont need to have VLC. Simple build-in MediaPlayer fits.. but if you're dl'ing FLV file you'll need to have VLC, because flash files are not supported through Haiku's MediaPlayer..

put this script in grenntube and rename the end to py and this works!!

i actualy did already before writing this comment,still does not download,neither on gcc2 nor gcc4 builds.

i've tested it yesterday [ downloaded some stuff from YT ]and it works. Try to check different youtube link.. or check the presence of python library in your system...

i've just tested it with the latest nightly from yesterday and python is installed but no go,i even tried to copy the links with bezilla thinking it might be a prob with web+,but the links just disappear without any erro msg.
strange isn't it?

I've replaced the youtube-dl file, and then tried installing from your SPM pro app and neither work anymore. I'm curious if it is an issue with newer Haiku revs or the the youtube-dl file needs updating.

There is a newer version of youtube-dl that you need to download. https://github.com/rg3/youtube-dl/raw/2010.12.09/youtube-dl Rename to youtube-dl.py and put it in the datafiles dir. Once I did this GreenTube worked again.

Once again, the required youtube-dl file needs updating. Download it from here rg3.github.com/youtube-dl/ , rename it to 'youtube-dl.py', and move it to the GreenTube/datafiles dir. It works once more.
