About Photograbber:
PhotoGrabber has already a long history behind itself. The first version of the application was a CLI application and was under the name BeDiGiCam. The following version was a GUI aplication that could only be used on Zeta.
After that the name has been changed to "PhotoGrabber" and was included into ZETA as a standard application for digital cameras.
Since then no new version has come out. This because of a lack of time and other interests. Some time ago I thought about to open source PhotoGrabber. So the project could go on even if I had no time for it. And it would be a shame to loose such a project just like Exposure!.Since it's integration in ZETA PhotoGrabber didn't really make any real changes, it wen't up to version 2.0 also due to the locale support in ZETA. After that Jixt released the source into the public at osdrawer.net. Changes were made to get a clean compilation of PhotoGrabber but no activities have been made for several months.
With Haiku being more mature now and a very descent USB stack, Jixt found it the right time to rewrite some stuff so it compiles out of the box on Haiku (though still needing the makefile-engine of R5), and hence ... R2.1 has been released for Haiku.
Grab your digital camera's and start checking if you can get your images imported in Haiku with the ease we know and came to love in the OS.
Version 2.2 R85:
- Download & Delete buttons/menu items have been removed.
- New picture grid view
- New status Dock
- Configuration of type 1 & 2 has been removed. PhotoGrabber now recognizes those types automatically
- Many more little fixes …
Version 2.2 R102:
- Added support for mass storage digital cameras.
- Many more fixes...
Version 2.2 R114:
- The PTP module has been partially rewritten. Memory problems should be no more and it is a little faster in showing the previews which are on the camera.
- The Mass storage module has also been rewritten. It has become faster and also more stable. It makes now more use of the internal 'guts' of Haiku.
- Many more fixes...

Is it capable of mapping those tags to BFS attributes?
If not, wouldn't this be a nice addition, so that Tracker can show the information to the user (and perhaps even perform queries)?
Greetings
Jixt
Support for EXIF-attributes mapping would be really cool. Looking forward to future versions!
See: http://www.xs4all.nl/~rrvvww/PhotoGrabberDLbug.txt
As karl already mentioned I need to have the backtrace. Otherwise I can't see what the problem is. Can you also give me the type of camera you use?
Thx
Jixt
Anyhow, I *do* know how to get a serial debug output from it, if that's OK as well.
The camera is a relatively old Sony: model Cybershot DSC-P52 (3.2 megapixels)
Thanx,

Under preferences, change the 'plugin' to 'PTP', and under 'Plugin Configuration', change the 'end type' to '2' before plugging your camera in!
www.haikuware.com/hardware-database/digital-cameras
would be nice to add more cameras. Great app btw.
The fact that it just "works" when you turn your camera on is very nice. Using it with a Canon EOS 350D and a 400D too.

Turn my camera on.
Start Photograbber
Segment violation as it starts. I have a backtrace for this.
If I start the camera after Photograbber started then all the photos in the camera are displayed but cannot see any way to import them.
In preferences, plugin configuration button is greyed out.
If I turn off the camera when Photograbber is open then Haiku goes KDL. I have a stack crawl for this as well.
If I delete Photograbber settings file from /home/config/settings then start Photograbber.
Turn on the camera.
Open preferences.
Choosing Plugin as PTP type then saving the preferences again causes a crash.
After this when I start photograbber with the camera off.
Turn camera on.
All the photos are displayed but as I said cannot find a way to import them.
Where do I report this bug with my two different bactraces.
I have one for the Photograbber and another for Haiku going KDL.
Is the last one reported in Haiku trac and the first at Jan-Rixt website.
Im looking forward to when this debugged. Should be a great application.
At this moment, the development status of photograbber is on hold. I'm waiting for a fix(memory management) in Haiku. As long as this is not fixed, PhotoGrabber will have crashes. I would advice you to use R82 or the 2.1 version. These should work just fine.
To download/import photo's you need to drag & drop the selected items.
I'm hoping that Haiku can fix this memory issue(http://dev.haiku-os.org/ticket/3183) as fast as possible. If so, development of PhotoGrabber will continue.
Greetings
Jixt
PS: Can you go to the development website and enter your issue in the issue tracking system? Give as much details as you can. Thx!
Is it possible to have a default folder that's actually in /boot/home? Or have an installer that creates the folder /boot/home/photos (or ask Haiku to make such a folder).
I tested Photograbber with an Iphone:
www.haikuware.com/details/ipone?Itemid=0
And it works. It crashed the first couple of times until I set a folder to download the pics to...
Most of the issues are fixed in this revision. I first need to test some parts (like the picture grid view) and the when there are no big issues anymore a final release 2.2 will come. After that we will work on version 3.0.
Please test this version & tell me via OSDrawer if the issues are fixed or not. If you get new issues, don't hesitate to create new issues via the OSDrawer bugtracker.
@karl
Version 2.2 now only supports drag & drop. No save or download buttons anymore. This means that the user can select pictures and drag them to the desired location. So @ this moment it is not needed to have a boot/home/photos directory. But ....
Version 3.0 will need that directory. This will be automatically created at startup when it is not present. Why will it be used? Well... you shall see when 3.0 arrives
btw
All Iphone versions & iPod touch version are supported (without crashes!).
Greets
Jixt
otherwise a very nice app!
