YAVTD stands for Yet Another Video Tube Downloader and allows downloading & streaming Videos from Youtube.

This is the first version for Haiku and supports Streaming (Downloading a part of flv and playing it back with MediaPlayer) and Downloading (In the highest format thats available). While other Youtube Downloaders suffer from not functioning when Youtube updates its api YAVTD includes an autoupdate function for the underlying youtube-dl Download Script it uses. This should allow you to be always up2date.

Sorry I forgot to write the supported Sites currently are:

* YouTube.com.
* YouTube.com playlists (playlist URLs in "view_play_list" form).
YouTube.com searches, using the special keyword "ytsearch" as a form of URL, as in "ytsearch:cute kittens". Do not forget the quotes if you want to include spaces in your search. Other variants are "ytsearchN" to download more than the first result, with N being a number, and "ytsearchall".
*YouTube.com user videos, using user page URLs or the specifc "ytuser" keyword.
*metacafe.com.
*Google Video.
*Google Video searches ("gvsearch" keyword).
*Photobucket videos.
*Yahoo! video.
*Yahoo! video searches ("ybsearch" keyword).
*Dailymotion.
*DepositFiles.

I am trying to use clive as a backend (the one thats also used for the linux version of YAVTD) but it does not seem to work currently with the perl version Haiku ships with.

Have you looked at Xvideoservicethief ? it used to work with youtube, but they keep changing flash for dubious reasons. althought I could see some of the tech here in the app plugged into webpositive for a easy to use way to play videos !

It would be nice to write a plugin or something for webpositive. But as far as I am concerned it is not possible with the current webpositive.
Is Web+ still in development ?
It became quiet somehow.

I am not entirely sure of wether or not webpositive supports plugins, IIRC at the moment it does not. Last I asked the dev working on webpositive he was slowly doing a big upgrade and plugin support was mentioned for the next big change. That and the move to the services kit when it is completed. I have a suspicion that if the services kit was completed we would see more development on webpositive.

The code is really crap basically (as it was my first ever written app in c++ for haiku)

Feel free to optimize the code. Especially the processes (forks) and so on.
