LyX is for people that write and want their writing to look great, right out of the box. No more endless tinkering with formatting details. You just write. In the background, TeX typesetting engine makes you look good. On screen, LyX looks like any word processor; its printed output -- or richly cross-referenced PDF, just as readily produced.

Pre Install requirements:

Beos have to be updated to Bone.
X11 Installed or linked to /boot/apps/X11R6.4. (I used X11R6.4.3-beos-4.pkg from BeShare)
Xbeosnative installed. (I used the one from Bebits)
Application twm should be in the X11. If blackbox is installed, than change the Lyx script.

To make the programm operational.
Install Tetex (Tex binaries and texfm from Bezip.de)
AFPL Ghostscript from Bebits.com.
pslpr and link it to lpr. (This step might not be needed.)
(Note: The parallel port device /dev/parallel/parallel1 was missing for me if I started BeOS with printer off)

The install programm will install
Lyx into /boot/apps
libXpm..so libforms.so libflimage.so libjpeg.so into /boot/apps/X11R6.4/lib
It will move libstdc++.r4.so to libstdstdc++.r4.so.R5 in /boot/beos/system/lib and replace it with libstdc++.r4.so. The new libstdc++.r4.so is from the newer gcc compiler which is used by haiku-os. This compiler was used since the boost libraries in Lyx do not compile with the older ones. The new library does not seem to effect the running of the older applications, but Lyx does not run without it.
To use aspell/ispell with lyx, add the path information for ispell to /boot/home/.profile.
For Expl: export PATH=....:/boot/apps/aspell.
Due to a bug in xforms, to select among the offered word choices in ispell, you have to double click on the selecter word.

Note: This can be installed only on Bone.
