Haikuware News

mmlr adds WPA support to Haiku!

Well, this is something I know a lot of Haiku users have been wanting for a very long time, and is something Haikuware has tried to support from the start (1, 2, 3)! Through rev. 42775, Michael has added the ported wpa_supplicant to Haiku, and describes that it is working on a limited set of hardware working on the hardware Michael had at his disposal to test on (ideally, it should work with all wireless adapters Haiku has a FreeBSD based driver for) - one can now join WEP/WPA/WPA2 networks on Haiku; finally!

Seeking Oct. TYA Nominations!

Well, once again, we're looking for any nominations for our Thank You Award concerning Haiku community members that you think have made a contribution to Haiku. I'd like to nominate cipri for his PDF viewer.

PDF Viewer Bounty & Details

Developer cipri, a mathematical physics student in Germany, has already recently ported mupdf, and designed a basic PDF Viewer based on this. His ambitions now are to write a BePDF replacement for Haiku! Cipri plans to release a new version every week, and hopefully have a somewhat complete version by the end of October. A blog entry by cipri outlines his plans.

New yab Version!

Yab, an easy to use programming language for Haiku, has a long list of applications

Developer Jan_64 has been absent for a while now, and there was concern the project had stalled. Good news though, he's back!

Professional Audio Coming to Haiku?

SX-1-leftI recently spoke with Frans at Tascamforums.com.

Apparently there was/is a professional audio workstation that ran BeOS - the Tascam SX1! You can see the specs here. Feature-wise, it's comparable to the Roland VS2480.
