As many of you may know, Claws Mail is the best opensource email client out there, much better than Thunderbird. It is lightweight, HIGHLY configurable, and it works very well.
It is based on GTK.

Any chance of seeing it ported to Haiku anytime soon? We really need a good email client!

i like Beam, the best mail program for Haiku. Have your tried this?

To use GTK programs you need to run haiku as gcc4 with Qt and the official versions are gcc2 at the moment.

Looking at the app it doesn't appear to be a trivial port. In order to properly port Claws Mails you'd have to rewrite the interface from scratch which would be quite a bit of work. Perhaps you could cajole GTK to get running on Haiku. I know that Abiword sorta-kinda works on Haiku so that seems like it should be possible.

All in all, it could be done, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
