A mini max basic system anounced by vasper Vassilis Perantzakis would be very appericated.
This distro, BeOS 5 PE Max Edition is Based on BeOS 5 PE with a number of drivers, add-ons, Athlon XP Patch , P4 Boot img , software, is far too slow to run at all on a 200Mhz computer.
Hmm, plain BeOS should be able to run on that -> officially it needs 133MHz or higher.
Here's what it says on the box of a BeOS 5 Pro Edition (to whom it may concern):
"BeOS Capable Systems:
Intel Celeron, Pentium (133 Mhz or higher recommended), MMX, Pro, II, II Xeon, III, III Xeon; AMD Athlon, K6, K6-2, K6-III, Cyrix 688MX, 688GXm (but not the M1); IDT WinChip C6, WinChip 2; Rise mP6."
It also needs at least 32 megabytes of RAM.
BTW, have you tried Haiku on it? Here the "smallest" hardware has 366 Mhz and handles Haiku well.
I find that Max can be an effective doormat for the Pro disc if you ever find one; install Max on a small partition, boot up on that partition, insert Pro disc and mount, open Installer app, install Pro on a different partition, set it as the active partition and you're away... Ah, what can I say; I never had much luck with the whole PartitionMagic thing. Also makes a great Be hardware test :)
