CloneKeen 8.4
Download
- Description:
-
CloneKeen is a very nearly complete clone of ID Software's classic DOS game "Commander Keen: Invasion of the Vorticons". All 3 of the first 3 Commander Keen games are supported. Several enhancements to the original are provided, such as 2-player support, alternative game modes, and a built-in level editor.
CloneKeen 8.4 includes several user maps made using the built-in editor. You can start one of them by selecting "New Game", then "Load User Map". Because the level editor is integrated with the game, when making your own levels, you can play through the level while you're editing it, and start and stop the action as needed. You can even place and remove tiles and enemies while the engine is running.
This version of the game is a port by the original author, based on previously-unreleased code, and is actually at a higher version level than the one on the CloneKeen site (the "official" version doesn't yet include the level editor, for example). You can chalk this up to yet another case of Haiku getting the latest games before Windows, I suppose.
Because the code hasn't gone up on the CloneKeen site yet, there isn't a download link as such for the source. BUT if you're interested in the source, you can write me via email; I'll be more than glad to provide you with a copy.
My email address is in the readme and I welcome all questions, comments, and death threats. - Submitted On:

Comments
- it was hard to find the shareware episodes (the ck1 files, since I have no windows machine, so I could not install the files from there)
