wow, it actually does work - albeit very slow (tested on GCC4 hybrid). was this just an old binary that suddenly works, or did you recompile it?

Its just an old binary. The solution was the exact combination of gl libs and python 1.5 lib in the application folder. (I have spent hours! )

ok cool. i've deleted the other blender entry here, as it didn't work out of the box and was the same version number.
