KOffice for Haiku - Stand Alone Installer Download

Thumbnails:

Description:
This is a packaged stand-alone installer consisting of Qt, KOffice (from TiltOS) and all it's required dependencies. It should *just work, after being installed :)

KOffice is free software, meaning it's open for anyone to improve and does not cost anything.

KWord is an intuitive word processor and desktop publisher application. With it, you can create informative and attractive documents with pleasure and ease.

KSpread is a fully-featured calculation and spreadsheet tool. Use it to quickly create and calculate various business-related spreadsheets, such as income and expenditure, employee working hours…

KPresenter is an easy to use yet still flexible presentation application. You can easily create presentations containing a rich variety of elements, from graphics to text, from charts to images. KPresenter is extensible through a plugin system, so it is easy to add new effects, new content elements or even new ways of managing your presentation. Because of the integration with KOffice, all the power and flexibility of the KOffice content elements are
available to KPresenter.

Karbon is a vector drawing application with an user interface that is easy to use, highly customizable and extensible. That makes Karbon a great application for users starting to explore the world of vector graphics as well as for artists wanting to create breathtaking vector art.

Does that mean this is a nice clean QT app that works without that TiltOS messing around?

Indeed.

I need a more elegant way to launch dbus though, right now they're startup scripts and it launches a new session everytime you start another KOffice application.

I tried messing around with putting dbus-daemon in the /boot/home/config/boot/launch folder, didn't seem to work though. If anyone has any ideas let me know (and please test them first).

No, coming soon.

Hi karl, why you don't create a yab app to start koffice? A window with 4 buttons (graphics) for the Office parts. It is not a such complicated thing ;-).

0 # zip not 7zip pleaseLelldorin 2010-02-07 04:17
I have download and installed the KOffice package yesterday, i like it .-).

I had some problems to unpack the packagefile, because it is a 7zip file and Haiku board tools does not extract them. So i used a yab app:
http://www.haikuware.com/directory/view-details/utilities/compression-archiving/extractnow

to do it. Can you create your next package as a zip file please?

+1 # RE: zip not 7zip pleasekarl 2010-02-07 09:45
7zip is in Haiku, at the command line. Zip doesn't compress as well as 7z that's why it's in that format. It saved ~10mb, although I may just leave it in *pkg format if people have trouble extracting it.

I'm glad that KOffice works in this simple package. The TiltOS way was kind of tedious. I'll look into Yab, never used it.

Yes i have seen, but my haiku hybrid does not unpack your zip, my haiku gcc2 expand without any problems.

Look at http://www.besly.de for Tutorials of yab. To learn this language is not so complicated. You will get fast good results. If you have questions there enough people who can help you.

how can i get informations about the gcc?

0 # RE: RE: KOffice for Haikukarl 2010-02-08 08:31
I assume if you got the GCC2 hybrid that everything is GCC2 with extra libraries in GCC4. If you got the GCC4 hybrid, then it's likely everything is GCC4 with extra GCC2 libraries. Someone please confirm that.

kdeinit4: preparing to launch /boot/common/lib/libkdeinit4_klauncher.so

and after starting from command line:
eval `dbus-launch --auto-syntax`

it crashes :(

I bet logging in/out would help. But this sounds very much like the installer
forgot a step at the end and it is not a koffice or kword bug.

Please talk to the haiku packagers.

+1 # RE: KOffice for Haiku - Stand Alone Installerkarl 2010-05-29 08:48
well, this doesn't help much - there is no log in/out in Haiku, and I'm not sure which step could be missing from the installer.

+1 # RE: RE: KOffice for Haiku - Stand Alone Installerp2501 2010-06-04 05:29
My guess: It's because Haiku changed to OpenSSL 1.0.0.

+1 # a "Dirty" Hotfixklagenfurt85 2010-11-03 07:46
Yeah, it seems that this is one of the causes. Haiku R1/a2 is devoid of several runtime components of KOffice/Qt4. But not only: DBus which is already present natively in the system is not loaded correctly by kdeinit4 and there's no /var/tmp/kdecache-user folder used by the same. One of the "dirty" solutions could be install after KOffice the .pkg ported from the TiltOS project [tiltos.com/drupal/node/4] that contains the missing libraries (OpenSSL 0.9.8, libCrypto 0.9.8, etc.) and create that folder in /var.
But be careful to not overwrite the existing libraries or sever the symbolic links between them, otherwise the other installed programs that depend on them may no longer work.

If D-Bus is still not charging, use this command:

eval `dbus-launch --auto-syntax`

and run 'kword' or another program of the suite from the same terminal.

In theory you can run KOffice after installing TiltOS, the X server for Haiku. And then follow these instructions:
tiltos.com/drupal/node/17

Someone want to give this a try?

+1 # RE: installation instructionsmichaelvoliveira 2011-06-09 15:11
With fixes in signal messages at kernel by bonefish, LyX will run smoothly into Alpha4. VLC as well

+1 # RE: RE: installation instructionsandrewzx1 2011-06-09 15:22
When?

0 # RE: RE: RE: installation instructionsmichaelvoliveira 2011-06-09 19:37
After Alpha3 release, I hope that bonefish merge your branch to the main trunk
