-- v.0.0.5: Right-click on running apps brings up show/hide/close popup menu
-- v.0.0.4 Removed the hard-coded limitation of 8 launchers. Now you can edit this value in the settings file too. (Also thanks to DarkWyrm "Programming with Haiku" lessons).
NOTE: Please Do NOT use the settings file from older version. Instead take the one included in this new package and edit it using a resource editor like QuickRes if you want to change the icons, apps launched or number of launchers. NEW Haiku native look theme option. I added some Haiku native HVIF files for icons and included a new settings file to try out the Haiku theme:
To try out using Haiku icons them, backup the current HiDockSettings.hList file and remame the HaikuTheme-HiDockSettings.hList file to HiDockSettings.hList. The restart the app.

This is just a teaser demo of hopefully my upcoming re-written verison of BeDock in native c++.
Not very configurable (can't be resized)... see the read me for more details.
Tested on R1A3 on and nightly gcc2 hybrid r44041 (VBox image).
Please post comments and enjoy.
(Re-uploading with bug fix for window getting cut-off).
-- v.0.0.3 (Added feature similar to Deskbar's show-all, when already running app's launcher is clicked. Thanks to Stephan and Rene!!)

Regards,

BTW. Somebody test it on new hrev?
System: Haiku installed to hard drive. Radeon X850 video card is being used by the Radeon driver.
Observations:
Only about half of the dock is displayed. I can see and use Mail, StyledEdit, and ShowImage. The other half is not displayed nor is it usable.
Thank you.
Work-around:
Ok - I reproduced the problem on the latest nightly r44041.
For some reason the window size is too small, but there is a work-around.
You can change the width of the window using the hey command in the Terminal. In the example below, I changed the width from 419 pixels to 919 pixels and now I can see the whole window with all the launchers.
Open a Terminal and type these 2 commands:
~> hey hiDock get Frame of Window 0
Index not in range for the data set (error 0x80000003)
Reply BMessage(B_REPLY):
"result" (B_RECT_TYPE) : BRect(79.0, 617.0, 419.0, 767.0)
~> hey hiDock set Frame of Window 0 to 'BRect(79.0, 617.0, 919.0, 767.0)'
Index not in range for the data set (error 0x80000003)
Reply BMessage(B_REPLY):
"error" (B_INT32_TYPE) : 0 (0x00000000)
It looks good! It's a sharp looking demo. I won't comment on the obvious features that haven't been implemented yet.
Thank you.

For now, I'm faking it by taking a screenshot just before launching the app and then using that as the background.
Thanks,

Wanted artist who can add relection (like the Mac OSX png icons) to the Haiku native HVIF icons.
Once you understand how to edit the setting file, is very simple.. And the result is very smooth and functional!
A request: for now can you just add the ability to change (add) the number of launchers?
Thank you!
Now, finally, i have added all my favourites apps to hiDock!
Best regards.
Please post a link to a screen shot!

Here's my Haiku Desktop with hiDock!

Kind regards.
Really cool!!
Background image of hiDock: i have also modified the original images (placed in /boot/apps/HiDock-Demo-v.0.0.4/HiDockShelfImages) with WonderBrush: i have added blur and removed brightness.
Best regards.
or works occasionally! * in the previous version works without problems.Regards.
*: i've checked: show running app, no longer works. If i click on the icon of a running app, a new instance of app is started.
It turns out the the app signature that is compiled in Qupzilla doesn't match the app signature you see in FileTypes.
So to fix, please open the Qupzilla executable with FileTypes and change the app signature it to be all lower-case as follows:
application/x-vnd.qupzilla
Please let me know if this fixes the hiDock problem for Qupzilla at least..
Regards,
hey68you.
I plan to make my hiDock code case-insensitive to solve such problems in the next release.

hey68you
